AUTHOR BIOGRAPHIES
Carol Montparker

Carol Montparker

CAROL MONTPARKER is a pianist and writer. She made what The New York Times called “a splendid debut” at Carnegie Recital Hall in 1976, chronicling the complete recital experience in her first book, The Anatomy of a New York Debut Recital, about which Glenn Gould wrote, “This diary is, without question, one of the most un-put-downable bits of music journalism I’ve come across in many years.” With this little book, in turn, began Montparker’s tangential career in music journalism.

As an editor of Clavier magazine for over 20 years, Montparker has written over 200 feature articles and interviews of world-famous concert artists, along with her regular column, “Carillon,” a personal view of music, and how it relates to the other arts, nature, and all of life. She has won four awards for Excellence in Journalism from Edpress America.

Carol Montparker is a Steinway Artist and continues to perform both solo and chamber music. Her CD, Pianogarden, has been praised by artists and critics. Montparker’s two interlocking professions have provided lively and bountiful material for her lecture-recitals; she also maintains and enjoys an active teaching studio in her residence in Huntington, New York, where she lives with her husband, Ernest Taub.
